„At her funeral in Bristol, UK, Sandie Wood, who had passed away at the age of 65 from tongue cancer, surprised attendees with a dance performance to Queen’s „“Another One Bites The Dust““. Her friend Sam Ryalls told the BBC that she wanted her funeral to be remembered for something special, not sad.
Claire Phipps, the owner and manager of the Flaming Feathers dance troupe, said she had jumped at the opportunity after Ryalls’ post on Facebook. Choreographing the dance was not difficult, but the group was not able to rehearse beforehand in the crematorium. To ensure they could perform, the dancers had to arrive early and get a seat at the back of the room.
Phipps said the performers had been quite nervous about how people would react, but the reactions in the room ended up being really positive. She said that those who knew Sandie well knew she was a rebel and that this was exactly what she wanted.“
