A Steep Climb to a Love Story – A Hidden Wedding Spot in the Icelandic Hills

By Ziggy, your Iceland Wedding Celebrant

There’s something quietly magical about places that make you work just a little to get to them. Recently, I discovered a short but steep hike – just 1.7 kilometres in length, but with an elevation gain of 240 metres – that leads to one of the most breathtaking ceremony spots I’ve seen in a long time.

The trail itself winds gently at first, then demands a bit more attention as you climb – nothing technical, but it certainly gets the heart pumping (a bit like falling in love, really). Step by step, the view opens wider. Fields stretch below, the sky feels a little closer, and the noise of the world fades behind.

At the top? Peace. Space. A feeling that you’ve arrived somewhere special.

This is the kind of spot that speaks to couples who want their ceremony to be a shared experience – not just for the words they say, but for the path they take to get there. It’s for those who enjoy the journey, the challenge, and the reward of standing side by side somewhere truly unique.

If you’re the kind of couple who’d trade high heels for hiking boots, or who want your vows to echo over valleys, this place might just be your perfect “I do” destination.

As a celebrant, I’ve seen how the location shapes the mood of the ceremony. Up here, it’s calm, wild, and incredibly intimate – even if the wind decides to show up as a guest. And for couples who bring just themselves (or a tiny circle of loved ones), the climb becomes part of the ritual. A quiet walk upward. A deep breath at the top. A promise made with the sky as your witness.

If this sounds like your kind of wedding, I’d be honoured to hike it with you.

Drop me a message – I’ll bring the ceremony, you bring the love (and maybe a waterproof jacket… this is Iceland, after all).
